The man from Dickson electorate, and his abhorrent and inveterate hostility, I only know through his words and through his actions. Holding an unprecedented position, with a boastful disposition he presides with chilling pride over a shameful malefaction. The untruth that we're learning, to the masses undiscerning, is that those who flee fearfully with courage over land and over seas to escape an abject horror, and the real fear of a lost tomorrow should be condemned by rhetoric which cries "illegality". He would ask that you believe, somewhat egregiously, that the deep uneasiness you feel within your soul should be ignored; but it is right to feel compassion, do not be led by his distractions for complicit acceptance of our immoral failings bears no reward. Feel the fury rise within you, let it grow and continue to propel you into the world full of vociferous criticism for a power hungry platform masquerading as social norm. Do not go quietly on this issue, do not propagate the stigmatism. Hate breeds only hate, painfully slow to abate once rolling on its merry, racist, dehumanising way; but my friends, do not accept, that we cannot right our wrongs just yet, that the death and pain and uncertainty be all in vain. Men and women and children, poor innocent civilians, callously detained, denied the simple rights that a human should always own. To be broken out of limbo, their bonds and our prejudice to overthrow, is only the smallest taste of the dignity that we should demand that they be shown. If you are feeling at a loss, and unsure how to cross the line between disillusionment and political protestation. I would ask of you one thing, throw your opinion in the ring in response to each and every fabrication and xenophobic proclamation. And when the conversation is faceless, and the claims are wild and baseless, be a voice of tender reason in the sea of manufactured opinion. We cannot remain idle, when there are children suicidal at every turn we must challenge the Dickson man's dominion. As we push for resolution, there can be no absolution, there is no forgiveness for this sin. - Melanie Boyd
